Canine Caravan – a Meximutt Road Trip!

divider

All summer long a few dozen Meximutts have been awaiting rescue in Juarez, Mexico -- each one rescued from the hardships of street life, certain death at animal control, or a life of cruelty and neglect.

Their pre-migration checklist consists of getting lots of love from foster parents, veterinary care for whatever ails them, spay/neuter surgeries, vaccinations, deworming,, and eating lots of yummy treats and fattening up for the long trip north.

Those of you who know us know that we fall madly in love with every batch of rescue pooches and are in constant awe at their resilience and capacity to heal and trust after their rough beginnings.

Here’s a peek at the muttley crew, now all official US residents – many already adopted!

Oscar: The lovely Oscar charmed us all with his gorgeous light golden coat and lovely manners. Quiet at first, but then quite silly, this youngster is bound for great things and will make someone a delightful companion for years to come.

Vagabunda: This dog is so adorable it should be illegal. The wirey tufts of hair that frame her darling face lead to a mohawk of sorts that races down her back. Submissive yet coy, playful yet refined, the darling, one and only Vagabunda is an absolute treasure.

Guera: What do you get when you mix one part Basset Hound with an equal ration of Dalmation? The unbelievably original looking Guera! Guera's elaborately spotted coat, curious demeanor, playful spirit and self-assured swagger are hard to resist.

Payaso: This dapper young fellow played a bit shy at first, but quickly warmed and revealed his wild side! Playful, incredibly loving, and unbelievably handsome, this south of the border poodle had the good fortune to get immediately adopted by our dear friends in San Francisco who have another Meximutt that they've cherished for years. Payaso, renamed Freddie, is now living the good life in the city with his latina canine sister and a wonderful family.

Ken: Ken, can you please stop being so freaking cute? I mean, really, Ken, that face is so darn adorable it makes it hard to do anything but gaze into your soulful brown eyes and wonder how on earth any creature got to be so adorable.

Gorda: Rolly-polly Gorda girl is pure love. This sweet little south of the border Chihuahua knows exactly how lovely she is and puts forth every effort possible to make all around her realize just that. Cute. Compact. Sweet as can be. We just love Gorda!

Chocolate {pronounced Choc-o-lot-ay in Spanish}: Some people say perfection doesn't exist, but, clearly, they've yet to meet Chocolate. As easy going as they come, this beautiful chocolate boy is deliciously gorgeous, scrumptiously sweet, and pleasantly self assured. Gentle, loving souls like this are hard to find.

Arpa: Oh, Arpa, is it your fluffy apricot coat, your pleading brown eyes, your soft sweet kisses or your unassuming tail wag that we love so much about you? All of the above? Indeed. Arpa is very mild mannered, incredibly affectionate, and can make you melt with just one quick glance of those Meximutt eyes which have depth the likes of which we can't even begin to describe....

Enrique: Scruffy and scrappy and far too cute for this planet, Enrique is a true Meximutt. Who could resist?

Bombon: We are fairly certain if there was a cutest dog ever contest, Bombon would be the grand champion of the universe. Wouldn't you agree?
