Wags to Riches: From the streets of Mexico to the high life in Northern California – a fairy tale ending for two downright adorable meximutts.

pipiThose of at who work with rescued animals know there is little in life much sweeter than the joy relished from seeing animals that come from backgrounds of cruelty, neglect, and homelessness make their way into pampered, loving homes where they are cherished, loved, and adored.

Case in point? Take Pipi and Chica – two scroungey little Meximutt terriers who were homeless in Mexico, rounded up off the streets, and destined to die in a local animal control center if it were not for our international rescue program. These two scraggly little girls knew the hardships of Mexican street life and had hardly known a day of kindness in their lives.

pipiPipi was rescued a few years ago and had the good fortune of being adopted out to Kim and Dick Pancini in the Sacramento, California area via our partner rescue organization Small Dog Rescue. Kim kept in touch, sending photo after photo of little Pipi in her new life and each one that we received seemed to top the last! Photos of her in Christmas gear, her starring as Toto in a local version of Wizard of Oz, and loads of positive feedback from Kim, who absolutely was crazy about the newest addition to her family.

dog rescueSo, we were thrilled when Kim and Dick expressed interest in adopting another Meximutt back in March. They picked Chica and she couldn’t have been much luckier. Chica and Pipi are the best of friends and are both very, very spoiled. We receive frequent updates and photos of the two little Mexican ladies who once lived on the hard streets of Mexico, yet now know only the pampered life of luxury they’ve been fortunate enough to fall into here in the United States. They have clothing, specialized dog beds with umbrellas to give them shade, rain slickers, warmed dog beds for the car...just about any and everything a spoiled dog could and should have.

But, above and beyond the material goods they are fortunate enough to be blessed with these days, these two have the most important thing in the world – a devoted family who loves them like no other and will never allow them to know another day of suffering, loneliness, or despair.

Bravo Chica and Pipi – you two are true Mexican wags to riches poster children!
