16 Meximutts Head North

Our latest rescue was a huge success and another 16 lives have been saved. We introduced you to many of the canine immigrants in a previous newsletter {read their stories here} and are happy to announce that all have arrived safe and sound. Read about their updates and other stories of those saved below:

Dasy recue dogDaisy

Daisy is an older, petite, long legged 6 lb Chihuahua that was rescued from a horrific puppy mill in Juarez. Daisy was rescued along with another dog brought back named Lucas {see below}. Both of these Chihuahuas were forced to live out their lives inside of small carriers and were used to breed incessantly to produce Chihuahua puppies that were sold locally.

Fortunately, the puppy mill was closed down by local advocates and these two chihuahuas were able to make their way to our rescue program.

Daisy is very much the lady – an absolute doll who deserves to be pampered and adored and will now have the opportunity to live the good life.

lucas rescue dog

Lucas

Lucas is the other Chihuahua brought back on this trip from the above situation. He is amongst the most adorable little creatures you will ever have the pleasure of knowing. Weighing in at 5 lbs he has stout little chocolate body just ripe for the kissing!

dog

Whiskey

Whiskey turned out to be an absolute doll. Full of pep and vigor, this little doll has both looks and personality.

ponchoPoncho

Poncho is a silly gray and black poodle that has a coat pattern that only Mexico could produce – he looks like two dogs glued together – his front half is gray and back half is all black! Poncho was found wandering the streets, matted and nearly starving to death when he was rescued. These days, he has completely recovered and is an energetic, bouncy poodle mix.

bruno

Bruno

Sweet Bruno was found with an old injury to his left eye that required removal. He bounced right back and it doesn’t slow him down one bit. He is a perky, silly little poodle mix that loves to give kisses and liked to play ball, as well.

Rina

Rina

A very sweet young lady, Rina was also rescued from the animal control center where she was awaiting euthanasia. Rina is an exceptionally calm, dignified little dog that despite her undoubtedly rough background radiates a very refined, regal vibe.

Molly

Molly

Molly is a very easygoing, sweet young Chihuahua that was rescued off the streets where she was emaciated and covered in mange. She shows no signs of having lived a hard life previously and is very well adjusted, easy going, and fun to be around. Just lovely.

MitziMitzy

Sweet little Mitzy was rescued from a family in a very poor suburb of Juarez where she lived in the dirt, chained to an old, non-functional car. When she was rescued it was evident she had recently nursed a littler – she was still lactating, bone-thin, and loaded with parasites. The family gladly gave her to us and she has made an amazing recovery in just a few short weeks. She put on weight quickly {too the point of being plump!}, cleaned up well and became a beautiful blackish gray poodle mix that will live a life of luxury from here forward.

Canela

Canela

Canela was the shyest of the group – but also very sweet. Her gigantic ears make her that much cuter. She, too, was rescued from the animal control center where she had been rounded up off the streets.

PirataPirata

Poor Pirata was found with a severe eye injury living on the streets. The eye was very infected and Pirata was quite ill when he was first rescued. He underwent extensive medical treatment, removal of the eye, and several weeks of recuperation and is now a confident young man who struts his stuff and seems to know just how handsome he is with his pirate flare.

Chico

Chico

this four-pound poodle mix pup is simply adorable. Rescued from the animal control center where he, too, would have been euthanized at his young age if not for the rescue. He was super silly, pranced around like a show dog, and refused to sit on anything that wasn’t ultra soft and man-made.

SorenSoren

Soren is the darling little gal that was abandoned for euthanasia at the animal control center after laboring for several days with a pup stuck in her birthing canal. After a live saving emergency, Soren was rescued and we are thrilled to have been able to help this little gal along her path to the pampered life she deserves.

BlanquitoBlanquito

Darling Blanquito was found living on the streets . Amazingly, he is totally blind and was managing to survive. Blanquito appears to have a congenital defect that gave him cataracts at a very young age. He gets around incredibly well and you can hardly tell he is handicapped. He is incredibly sweet and very trusting, following your voice wherever he hears it and trying to stay very close so as not to lose his way.
