Love Across Borders in 2012

ray rescue dogLove will indeed be leaping fences, overcoming hurdles, and even penetrating borders in just a few short weeks when we usher in the New Year by saving a delightful group of scrappy Meximutts from Juarez, Mexico! We will be heading down to pick up the four legged immigrants on January 20th and invite you all to stay tuned to our rescue effort live via our Facebook page ….. where we will post video and pics from the lifesaving trip.

For ten years now, Compassion without Borders has been saving these sweet souls from south of the border; providing all medical care, voluntary quarantine, vaccination, microchipping, heartworm testing, socialization and TLC before bringing them up north where they are adopted out into loving homes via our fabulous rescue partners.

The resilience and joy each life saved represents gives us all cause for hope as the New Year spreads out before us with the brilliant possibilities of continued humane reform, compassionate action, and committed work on behalf of the animals .

None of our livesaving work would be possible without the donations of folks like you who enable us to save these sweet lives. Just $100 helps to cover the cost of sponsoring a dog south of the border and entitles you to a rescue packet with the background story and picture of your rescue dog, as well as a certificate of sponsorship and sticker.

Help us to start the New Year out right by sponsoring a rescue dog and saving a life today.

Here a few of the dogs still awaiting sponsorship:

mud rescue dog

Mickey: Mickey was found on the streets of Juarez covered in matts and motor oil. Unfortunately, covering dogs in motor oil is common practices in many parts of Mexico as there is a wide spread belief that it helps to control external parasites.

Mickey was fairly ill when rescued and immediately was given medical care, bathed, clipped, and nursed back to good health. His new coat is growing back in lusciously and oil free and he is ready to hit the U.S with his stylish new locks.

Help Mickey along his journey to the life he deserves –

salvador international dog rescue

Salvador: Salvador is a dashingly handsome scruffy Mexican street dog that was saved from the Animal Control center where CWOB implements a humane euthanasia program.

His soulful brown eyes tell a tale of much hardship, but after a few months in a foster home he has grown used to the life of a pampered pooch and is ready for his forever home in northern California.

Help this Scrappy Mexican street dog complete his transformation into a beloved California sidekick!

international dog rescue bertoBerto: Sweet Berto was found starving on the streets of Mexico, shy and unassuming. His thin frame covered by a seemingly impossibly adorable matt of scruffy black hair.

That was months ago and he is now nowhere as shy or thin. He is no longer matted, but is still one giant black ball of scruffy Mexican charm.

From behind that wirey muzzle, peek out eyes that are as sweet as the day is long. Sweet Berto may be one part dog with two parts hair – but he is all love.

Berto is sure to make a delightful companion for a loving family in California.

Ray: OK, who said there weren’t any Old English Sheepdogs roaming the streets of Juarez, Mexico?

This adorable Mexican streetdog appears to be 75% sheepdog with 25%Meximutt thrown in for good measure. Mellow, friendly, eager to greet each day with his goofy disposition and gratitude, Ray is going to make California a much richer state just by his very presence.

Yellow: While this dog’s name is admittedly unoriginal, this blonde Latin Meximutt certainly isn’t! Sweet Yellow is 12 lbs of pure love.

Rescued before being euthanized at animal control in Juarez, Yellow is a fun-loving little dog with his whole life ahead of him.

Samantha: If Samantha was anymore adorable we wouldn’t know what to do with ourselves. Her regal mane of wire haired lox frames her unbelievably sweet face just so – simply beautiful. This gorgeous dog was found living behind a taco stand with a painful venereal tumor which required weeks of medical treatment to eradicate.

She now has a clean bill of health and is ready to leave her taco stand days far behind her as she greets the life ahead of her north of the border.
