Biggest Rescue to Date: 113 dogs Saved!

On June 15th CWOB orchestrated our largest rescue effort to date – 113 dogs! Thanks to Wings of Rescue, who offered us a flight for dogs from the Central Valley to the Midwest, we were able to select dogs from Fresno, where there are far too many homeless dogs and not enough homes, and transport them to our partners in the Midwest, where adoptable dogs are in high demand.

Originally, we had anticipated possibly rescuing up to 200 dogs, but due to space limitations on the plane and our need to send some larger dogs {some of the hardest dogs to place in Fresno} our capacity was a bit lower, but still absolutely incredible.

CWOB coordinated the rescue effort, did health and temperament screening, and housed many of the dogs prior to transport. Our amazing partners in Fresno also housed many of the dogs and did much of the leg work on the ground, as well. Those partners include: Animal Rescue Fresno, Fresno Humane, and Animal Compassion Team Fresno. This was our first time working with New Beginnings rescue out of Merced, who sent some of their dogs along on the transport, as well.

Big thanks to our receiving shelters – Animal Humane Society in Minneapolis and Michigan Humane, for taking in these incredible dogs and giving them a chance at the loving homes they deserve. And, of course a big thanks to Wings of Rescue for the lifesaving flight.

Collaboration and team work are what make these huge lifesaving ventures possible and we are so grateful to be part of such an incredible network of lifesaving agencies. Go team!
