Marin Humane Society hosts screening of "Viva Los Perros!"
(NOVATO, CALIF., May 6, 2009) — “Viva Los Perros!” a thirty minute, locally produced documentary film featuring rescue dogs from Mexico, will premiere at the Marin Humane Society (171 Bel Marin Keys Blvd., Novato) on Saturday, May 30 at 7 PM.
Produced by the non-profit animal protection organization Center for Animal Protection & Education (CAPE), "Viva Los Perros!" (Celebrate the Dogs!) tells the uplifting, inspirational story of a young couple whose love for each other flourishes through their mutual compassion for the welfare of animals. The film focuses on Christi and Moncho Camblor who founded Compassion Without Borders (CWOB) to reduce animal suffering in impoverished communities in Mexico. Together, the Camblors have rescued thousands of dogs from the streets of Mexico, and set up spay/neuter and vaccination camps throughout the poorest areas of the country.
The Marin Humane Society has assisted CWOB by providing shelter and adoption services for nearly 100 dogs brought back from Mexico. Naomi, a former street dog from Mexico who was adopted into her new home by the Marin Humane Society, will be at the screening event.
Admission is free. Donations are welcomed. Call or email to reserve your seat: 831.336.4695 or postmaster@capeanimals.org.
