International Dog Rescue

divider

dog rescueSince 2001, Compassion Without Borders, has been coordinating an international rescue from Mexico to Northern California. To date, we have saved the lives of over one thousand dogs. The rescue is a collaborative effort between Compassion without Borders and our partner organizations.

The rescue began from the Refugio Fransicano, a large no-kill shelter in Mexico City that houses approximately 2,000 animals. Since then, we have expended the effort to include dogs from animal control centers in Juarez, Mexico - where Compassion without Borders is currently working on statewide humane reform.

We select friendly, adoptable dogs from these locations, provide voluntary quarantine in local foster homes where dogs are rehabilitated emotionally and also given medical care, sterilized, vaccinated, dewormed, heart worm tested and microchipped . We then bring them back to northern California where they are adopted out into permanent homes via various rescue organizations and local shelters.
