First ever "Festival de Mascota" free spay/neuter and wellness services

kids at the clinicFor the past year , Compassion without Borders has sought to expand our mission to help animals in need in underserviced communities by developing a new project geared to assist the animals of low-income Latino families in California. Through our partnership with several local animal welfare organizations, we are happy to announce our first “Festival de la Mascota” {Celebrate your Pet Festival}, a free dog and cat wellness and sterilization event, which will be held on March 25 at 19685 Eighth Street East, in Sonoma from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

CWOB will be providing free animal wellness and veterinary care: health checks, vaccinations, heartworm and viral testing, flea treatment and deworming. Pets Lifeline, a local shelter in Sonoma, will be offering free spay/neuter surgeries. Petco in Santa Rosa will be donating pet care supplies that will be given to the families at the event.

Compassion without Borders has been out in the community the past few weeks spreading the word through flyers, word of mouth, and print and television media. We already have a fantastic response and are thrilled that we will be able to help a large number of animals who otherwise would not have access to spay/neuter surgery or veterinary care.

The importance of these clinics cannot be overstated as they not only provide services that are beneficial to the animals themselves, who are at increased risk of suffering from preventable disease, parasitism, and other treatable ailments, but also serve to help to keep untold number of unwanted litters out of local shelters and will also decrease relinquishment by providing folks with a safety net for veterinary care.
