Mexico Programs

Mexico Programs

Since 2001 CWOB has been bringing brighter futures to animals in need in Mexico by providing access to free veterinary wellness and spay/neuter, international dog rescue efforts, and our programs to end electrocution as a means of killing unwanted animals south of the border.

MEXICO SPAY/NEUTER

Recognizing that the root of animal homelessness, suffering and neglect is overpopulation and simply too many unwanted animals, creating spay/neuter solutions south of the border has been a priority for our organization for over a decade.

We have a free clinic, Clinica Esperanza, in Puerto PeƱasco, Sonora that provides free spay and neuter services to over 5,000 animals each year.

MEXICO VETERINARY WELLNESS

Free veterinary wellness services iprovide desperately needed care to animals who are in urgent need of assistance. In many areas of Mexico, vaccinations can mean the difference between life and death due to so the high prevalence of many fatal diseases such as Parvo and Distemper. We provide nearly 2,000 veterinary wellness visits free of charge south of the border annually.

International dog rescue program

CWOB has been rescuing dogs in need from Mexico for over 13 years. Our international dog rescue saves the lives of animals who would otherwise languish on the streets or be euthanized in Mexican animal control centers. We currently operate two dog rescue centers south of the border and are able to save the lives of over 800 animals annually through these facilities. Dogs are rescued, rehabilitated, and then adopted out locally or brought to California for adoption through our shelter in Santa Rosa.

CAT RESCUE

Each year we are able to take in and rescue over 200 homeless cats south of the border thanks to a local adoption program and a partnership with HALO animal rescue in Phoenix, Arizona. HALO takes in cats from our shelter south of the border and finds them loving homes in Arizona.
