On May 11th, CWOB co-founders Dr.Christi and Moncho Camblor safely ushered 45 dogs across the border from Mexico to the U.S. with special permission from the Mexican Department of Health.
An abundance of precaution was used and the rescue was carried out safely and swiftly. Moving these dogs out of the two shelters south of the border was critically important as animal surrenders and abandonment is at an all-time high due to the economic ramifications of COVID19.
Clearing these dogs out, who have all been in voluntary quarantine for several months in Mexico and are now ready for adoption, made space for us to continue to bring in animals in need and save as many lives as possible.
After the two-day trip, the dogs arrived safely and soundly to Muttopia, the safe space for rescued dogs co-created by the Center for Animal Protection and Compassion Without Borders in 2017, where we have been fortunate to find ourselves faced with a record number of adoption applications and foster home requests in the midst of COVID19.
Saving lives is an essential service and we remain 100% committed to carrying it out at our highest possible capacity.
