Bobbie and Loren Theodore
Bobbie Theodore, CWOB Board Member and Longtime Supporter: I found CWOB 20 years ago after returning from a tropical vacation where I saw starving, suffering dogs and vowed to model compassion for my children. CWOB’s mission, founders and results were a perfect fit, and I have been a donor and Board Member for years.
This organization has integrity and passion. I know from the “inside” that funds are used responsibly to maximize helping the most needy animals and their people.
My husband’s and my donations have included appreciated stock and cash. We created a Donor Advised Fund in a year that we needed the most tax relief, and we’re using that for upcoming annual gifts. We have also included CWOB in our trust to ensure their work will continue as part of our legacy. We can’t save them all, but we can support a group that saves so many.
Alicia Robb
CWOB Board Member and Longtime Supporter
I first met Christi and Moncho when I lived in the Bay Area and was looking to get involved with animal rescue. After volunteering at one of their spay/neuter clinics in Juarez, Mexico, I was hooked. I fostered a young dog that needed two months of medical treatment before being able to be put up for adoption. I fell in love with her and Chalula spent the next 12 years living an amazing life in California, Colorado, and Arizona.
I have been a donor and Board member for many years and I see first-hand the amazing work CWOB is able to do. This organization is more effective than many organizations that are much larger so I know my support having an impact.
My husband and I included CWOB in our estate plans, but we are also monthly donors and contribute to other campaigns throughout the year, including the capital campaign for the new clinic and rescue center in Mexico.
We are continually impressed with the work they do in Mexico and the United States. The need is great and we know CWOB is having a major impact in decreasing the suffering of animals in both countries. We are proud and excited to support the efforts of CWOB as the organization continues to grow and have an even greater impact.

I have chosen to support Compassion Without Borders with both funding and volunteer time for the past 20 years because no other organization does as much to end animal suffering. The dogs I’ve adopted from CWOB, who once endured so much on the streets of Mexico or Central California, have become the most grateful and joyful companions. It’s the joy of my life to watch them blossom into happy, fun-loving dogs.
In addition, the low-cost spay/neuter clinics they offer in low-income areas provide a lasting solution to recurring overpopulation.
All of my assets will be directed to CWOB because I’ve seen firsthand how they utilize every donation to its fullest extent to alleviate suffering."
Barbara and Nick Makris
Nick and I have been contributors to Compassion Without Borders for approximately 18 years. We had been donors for various rescue organizations but were looking for one with real passion and commitment to the animals in need. It was after meeting Christi and Moncho and learning of the efforts of CWOB that we decided this was the one we had been searching for. We have not been disappointed. From the sometimes harrowing efforts to save dogs and cats in Mexico and the Central Valley, to the dedicated staff and volunteers, this organization is where we feel our donations are most appreciated, needed and applied. We plan to keep on donating via our estate planning, knowing our contributions will always go to good use.
