Dozens of south of the border canines make a run for the border!
We are happy to announce that the latest bunch of adorable rescue dogs are all now safe and sound here in northern California. From scraggly Mexican street dogs without a hope in the world to pampered pooches gringo style, these four-legged Latinos are proof positive that hope is possible.
Thanks to everyone who contributed towards saving these beautiful dogs. Each one is an absolute delightful soul that so deserves the chance at love and happiness they have been given.
Angie: This once homeless scruffy terrier extraordinaire has the streetwise swagger of a dog that had to learn all the tricks to survive. However, those days of struggle are behind her now and she seems quite content to focus all that hard earned brainpower on figuring out how to be the most adorable, attentive, fun loving companion ever. We find her blonde, scruffy locks rather irresistible.

Berta: Sweet Berta was found at animal control with numerous wounds and appeared to have possibly been beaten. Fortunately, all of her injuries resolved with basic veterinary care and she recovered quickly once rescued and given the nurturing environment she needed to heal. Berta is a beautiful dog with deep brown eyes and a shy, coy demeanor that is immediately captivating.

Canelo: This dapper young fellow was found at animal control in Juarez, Mexico, after being rounded up off the streets. He was slated for euthanasia, but fortunately rescued just in time and is now eager to put all that hardship behind him and find his forever home in California.

Checho: Checho was found at animal control awaiting euthanasia. He was in horrible conditions, matted, thin, and filthy. Fortunately he was selected for our rescue program and has put on weight, undergone several rounds of baths and grooming, and is ready and more than willing to cross the border and never look back.

Fabian: Fabian looks like one part Benji mixed with an equal ration of Dachshund and a generous dose of scrappy street dog mixed in for good measure. This handsome fellow was found wandering the streets, very thin and suffering from a painful venereal tumor, which is very common south of the border. The tumor is curable with treatment, but if left untreated can lead to death and is excruciatingly painful.
Sweet Fabian was fortunately rescued, given the treatment he needed along with plenty of good meals and love along the way, and is now a completely healthy, happy young dog with his whole life ahead of him.

Negrita: Negrita is darling black terrier mix that was rescued off the streets where she was found scrounging for food behind a convenience store. She is loving, calm, and absolutely beautiful inside and out. This little Mexican gal is sure to make some lucky family an extraordinary companion.

Rocio: Rocio is the kind of dog you just want to scoop up and never put back down. This unassuming little terrier mix was rescued off of death row at animal control in Juarez, Mexico, where she ended up after being found wandering the side of a busy road. We hope for nothing more than a home where she is adored for the beautiful, unique, generous hearted dog that she is.

Robin: Robin may look somber, but don’t let his cool exterior fool you. This dignified poodle mix has a real silly side, which he is more than willing to share once he knows he can trust you. We find his white fluffy, scruffy coat beyond adorable and he wants everyone to know he grew it just for his trip to the U.S. You see, he was actually near bald when first rescued due to a severe case of mange, which cleared up quickly with veterinary care. Robin was rescued from animal control in Juarez, Mexico, where he was slated for euthanasia after being rounded up off the streets in very poor condition.

Rachel: Rachel asked that we describe her as an Old English Sheepdog mix, even though she is classic Meximutt Heinz 57 – she thought perhaps the Sheepdog angle would give her an edge over the other scruffy mutts hoping to be rescued. If you were somehow able to resist kissing Rachel’s face immediately when you met her, we hope you would at least take the time to stroke her stout little body and admire the impossibly happy wag of her scruffy little tail. Too cute for this planet, this dog was rescued off the streets where she was struggling to survive.

Perla: Perla is just 6 months old and has already had a very hard life. Rescued off the streets with a terrible case of mange and nearly starving, she has been recuperating for the past few months and is finally full coated, filled out, and ready to be adopted. Sweet Perla has her whole life ahead of her now and will never again have to suffer.

Pirata: Pirata is a beautiful little black and tan terrier cross with one blue eye and one brown. He was rescued off the streets of a busy commercial area of Mexico. He is calm, loving, a touch shy, and very, very handsome.

Paola: The lovely Paola was found sitting in the corner of a crowded cage at animal control in Juarez. She caught the eye of a local volunteer and once eye contact was made began shyly wagging her tail. Once the volunteer began speaking sweetly to her, she burst into a full blown wag and ran over to him, jumped up on the fencing that separated them and pleaded with her deep brown eyes to be saved.
It worked. She was out of that cage in less than a minute and hasn’t looked back since!

Daniel: Sweet Daniel was found with matts so severe they were pulling on his skin to the point where the tension caused open wounds. When he was rescued from death row at animal control in Juarez, he was immediately clipped down, started on antibiotics and medicated baths, and given some pain relief for his uncomfortable condition.
These days, you’d hardly recognize him. His coat, while still short from being shaved down, is growing back in rather beautifully and he is whiter than white, without a wound to be seen on his entire physique. He is a gentle soul that moves with wisdom and dignity without taking himself too seriously.
